Knitted gloves are the piece winter actually tests: worn directly on the skin, taken on and off all day, and lost the moment they annoy the wearer. Jakopina gloves are knitted from extra-fine merino wool in our family studio in Dvorje near Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia.

Why merino wool gloves?

Hands are sensitive to both prickle and damp, and merino answers both: extra-fine fibres that do not itch, and natural moisture-wicking that keeps hands dry as they warm up. Merino also insulates when slightly damp — useful for gloves, which meet snow.

Do knitted gloves keep hands warm in real winter?

For everyday winter — the school run, walks, errands — merino gloves are warm on their own, because knitted fabric traps air and merino regulates temperature. For wet snow play, they layer under waterproof mittens as a soft, warm liner.

What size gloves should I choose?

Each Jakopina glove model lists its measurements on the product page — choose by the wearer's hand measurements. Knitted fabric stretches, so a correctly chosen pair fits snugly without pinching.

How do I wash knitted gloves?

On a wool cycle at up to 30 °C with a mild wool detergent, dried flat. Gloves take the most contact of any knitwear, so they wash more often than other pieces — merino handles repeated gentle washing without losing shape.
